1.1 Design & Develop Instructional Materials
Creating structured, engaging, and effective instructional materials is crucial for successful learning outcomes. This process follows recognized IBSTPI standards to ensure high-quality instructional design that supports learner engagement and knowledge retention.
Virtual Korean Class
As part of this project, an interactive e-learning module was designed and developed to facilitate Korean language learning. The module incorporates multimedia elements, structured grammar exercises, and real-world dialogue practice to enhance comprehension and application. The instructional design follows the Five Hat Racks principle, organizing content by category, time, and sequence for better learner experience.
Alignment with IBSTPI Instructional Design Competencies
1. Apply Research & Theory to Instructional Design
Integrated cognitive load theory to ensure manageable information chunks for learners.Applied constructivist learning theory to encourage interactive and experiential learning.
2. Design & Develop Instructional Materials
Developed structured learning modules aligned with learning objectives.Ensured consistency in content flow, assessments, and interactive activities to support varied learning styles.Used multimedia elements (audio, visuals, interactive exercises) to enhance engagement and comprehension.
3. Analyze Learner & Context Needs
Conducted a learner analysis to determine prior knowledge and skill levels.Designed lessons tailored to beginner and intermediate learners of Korean.Provided adaptive learning paths to accommodate different paces of learning.
4. Utilize Instructional Strategies for Engagement
Incorporated active learning strategies, including dialogue simulations and real-life practice scenarios.Structured grammar and vocabulary exercises using spaced repetition techniques for better retention.
5. Develop Assessments to Evaluate Learning
Created formative assessments (quizzes, self-check exercises) for ongoing feedback.Designed summative assessments (final module tests) to evaluate mastery of learning objectives.
6. Implement & Manage Instructional Materials
Hosted content on an LMS (Learning Management System) for easy access and tracking.Ensured responsive design for accessibility across devices (desktop, tablet, mobile).
7. Ensure Ethical and Inclusive Learning Design
Designed content with cultural sensitivity, incorporating diverse Korean language contexts.Provided alternative text and closed captions for accessibility.
