Course Description
This course employs the natural approach to teaching Korean, emphasizing the seamless integration of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students are encouraged to engage in Korean communication authentically and confidently. The curriculum is designed with a performance-based, learner-centric approach, utilizing basic resources, task-oriented activities, and maintaining a balance between skill acquisition and practical application. Grammar is presented with clear explanations, abundant examples, exercises, and drills. Additionally, the course incorporates aspects of Korean society, including culture and history.

Course Learning Objectives:
by the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Read and write Hangul (Korean alphabet) fluently.
- Understand and use basic Korean vocabulary and sentence structures.
- Engage in simple conversations about daily activities, greetings, and self-introductions.
- Comprehend and respond to basic spoken Korean in everyday situations.
- Gain cultural insights into Korean traditions, etiquette, and social norms.
Course Structure:
This course consists of 18 modules, each focusing on a specific topic related to the Korean language and culture. Each module includes:
- Lecture recordings and interactive lessons
- Practice exercises and quizzes to reinforce learning
- Cultural insights and discussions
- A final project integrating language skills

Projects
K-Performance
Create a video performance including YOUR FACE. You can perform alone or with classmates, family, or friends. The video should be at least one minute long. Performances must be in Korean. If you choose to dance, singing a Korean song is optional. Choose any performance idea you like. For instance, you can dance, sing a song, or explain Korean culture/history using pictures. If you read a poem or a children’s storybook or introduce Korean history/heritage, please be sure to add subtitles in both English and Korean. The deadline for submission is March 11, and we will watch the videos in class on March 12.

- Please, write an essay in both Korean and English. (First line: Korean, Second line: English) If you do not add English translation, I do not understand what you try to say.
- You can write about 10 sentences/more than that.
- The content of the topic can be anything such as fun, funny, sad, etc.
- I’ll revise your essay. So the sooner you turn in your homework, the more time you have to memorize it.
